• 1925, born in Cuero, Texas

• 1948, B.F.A., University of Texas at Austin; Moved to Houston, Texas

• 1949-50, instructor at the Museum School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

• 1960-72, Rice University, Assistant Professor of Fine Art

• 1963, began travelling the United States in preperation for Planning, Programming, and Design for the Community Mental Health Center, published 1965

• 1965, Planning, Programming, and Design for the Community Mental Health Center published

• 1968, designed, edited and partially illustrated Life Class

• 1970, initiated Artist’s Handbook series

• 1971, began Pages From Books Unpublished series

• 1974, conducted a month-long university workshop in Guadalajara, Mexico

• 1977, began Art Lessons series; Awarded poster commission from American Academy in Rome

• 1978, led an outdoor figure drawing workshop in Ingram, Texas

• 1979, Mobil Corporation Artist in Residence, Saudi Arabia

• National Endowment for the Arts grant recipient

• National Endowment Fellow, 34th International Design Conference, Aspen, Colorado

• 1986, Texas Artist of the Year; Received City of Houston Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts

• 1993, Educator Award from the American Institute of Architecture

• 1996, passed away in Houston, Texas
